Nervous System Education for

YOUR team

At Experiential Consulting, we believe that a resilient team is a safer team. Those who work in the outdoor and experiential education industry face unique stressors that are not only unavoidable but are actually often sought out for their programmatic benefits.  We intentionally put ourselves and our participants into stressful situations. Staff are called upon to make risk management decisions that may have literal life or death consequences. We make it our responsibility to care for the physical, mental and emotional well being of our clients in these potentially difficult situations.

All of this, if not undertaken in an nurturing environment of attuned support, can result in staff burnout, stress injuries and low organizational morale.

How would this work  benefit our program's risk management strategy?

Readiness - We work to help you develop practices, grounded in well established neuroscience that create a strong, well resourced team.

Response - Should an incident occur, we can be there to help minimize long term impacts to individuals, families and the organization as a whole. Our methods are rooted in Somatic Experiencing®. As a trauma informed method, (SE™) aims to prevent or resolve symptoms of stress, shock, and trauma that accumulate in our bodies and nervous systems.

Resilience - Building on our readiness work, and using a nervous system lens, we help grow your capacity and your resiliency so that you can grow your programs.

We can help you in the following ways:

Resilience Assessment

Are you unsure or curious about just how well your team is prepared to handle the general requirements of the job or a critical incident?  We can work with your staff to assess for stress injuries, and help your team to build supportive practices before burnout occurs.

Crisis Response Team

We want to be there to support you every step of the way, should the unthinkable happen. Our practices are trauma informed and grounded in neuroscience.  Using the  Somatic Experiencing practices of co-regulation, containment, connection to the body and polyvagal informed nervous system regulation tools, stress chemistry is attended to and supported to discharge from the nervous system, allowing for increased capacity and resiliency despite the collective trauma.

Post Incident Support

We stay the course with you to make sure you and your team get back on your feet following a critical incident.  We’ll provide guidance to your team, monitor for signs of stress injury and post traumatic stress and offer therapeutic interventions based in the Somatic Experiencing model to tend to individual and collective health.
